hi flyforum, This afternoon I found this tiny fly on some piece of grass. Must be Agromyzidae sp. I think.. It would be nice if this fly could be identified to specie-level. Perhabs there are some characteristics parts to see on the picture? Robert Heemskerk |

Cerodontha, probably denticornis (named after the 'tooth' on the antenna).

hello Paul, I will call it Cerodontha denticornis and put a questionmark next to it.. If a detail-picture of the head (antenne) can persuade C. denticornis, let me know and I will post that later. thank's for answering, Robert, Edited by Robert Heemskerk on 29-04-2007 11:32 |

you need a close up of the mesonotum to see if it has acrostichals or not |

I cannot make out anything of acrostichal setae on the mesonotum in these pictures, and I think they usually are rather distinct in this genus...

There are no acrostichal setae on the mesonotum. In this detail I can see the 'tooth', then this is Cerodontha denticornis I think.. ![]() Edited by Robert Heemskerk on 02-05-2007 08:51 |
