Kind of Phaonia sp?
Robert Heemskerk
hello Flyforum,

Yesterday I found this Muscidae sp. on a treebark (oak).

Looking at this fly I see a dark M-M vein, and curved.
Also R-M vein is a bit dark and broad.
Calypter is white with a yellow outline and quite visible.
Arista is plumosa, Antenne black
Remarkable big black palps
colour legs: black/grey - redbraun - black

I though of Phaonia sp., but what kind of Phaonia?

Late answer, I know, but this one is still bothering me.
If it is not a female Phaonia palpata, I don't know what it could be. All characters given by the keys seem to match, except for the aristal hairs that should be longer.
Don't know how important it is.

Regards,
