HI, anther fly from Baile Herculane (Hercules Bath) taken in 7.april.2007. aprox size was 10 mm. maybe can be identified. thanks, cosmln |

My guess is Macquartia (Tachinidae). One could even try to ID the possible species (dispar / viridana it seems) Theo Zeegers |

I had another look. The eyes are very hairy, so it cannot be Sarcophagidae. Approaching eyes are quite uncommon in Tachinidae, however agree with Macquartia. So I have little doublt it is Macquartia. Then, the excavation on syntergite 1 & 2 is complete, the abdomen is tesselate and the parafacialia are hairy, implying with 99 % certainty Macquartia tessellum. Indeed, a spring species. |
