Soldierfly, which species?
wilde
Today in my garden (Koudekerke, Walcheren, Netherlands) this soldierfly (10 mm). The underside of the abdomen is greenish. Could anyone help me with it's name?

I'm not an expert in Strat's, but it should be
Odontomyia tigrina female

Not sure about the green underside, though.

Green in other Odontomyia species in the same group is rather common, though the green can be more yellowisg rather than green. Since the halter here also is rather greenish, I think it is save to assume that the parts that are reported to be yellowish on occasion (small marking on tergites in female and the belly) can also be greenish. Please, note that there are small greenish markings on the tergites in this specimen as well.

The male fly also has a yellow-green underside of the abdomen. I photographed both this day. Both are about 10 mm. I think they were fresh and just born. I send some pictures below, the female first.

I provided 4 extra photos, but got no further comments. Do all of you still agree with the name Odontomyia tigrina?
At first sight the flies look shiny black. I edited the photos in Photoshop and used low light correction to get more details and colour. So maybe they look a bit strange.

No reason to change the identification. Grin
