I don't think is from Stenopogoninae s.f., I'd say Asilinae female.

A bit strange looking Engelepogon (Acanthopleura)First antennal segments seem yellowish that would make it brunnipes but description doesn't fit. Theodor (1980) mentiones only A. goedli and pallida for Israël. Neither description seems to fit completely though. The dark paramedian stripe on thorax fits goedli, but the following does not : Light coloured antennal segments 1&2, and the red patch on the ovipositor, also femora should have broad anterior black stripes...colour variation?

Hello Eitan,

I was looking at a Spanish Neomochtherus and it reminded me very much of your picture....... i blame myself for not taking more genera into account. Maybe you can compare this photo with pictures or, preferably specimens of Neomochtherus illustris so i changed my opinion. : ) Description in Theodor fits perfectly including the red base of ovipositor (although he descibes it as brown(probably studied a collected one : ))) I hope you can compare and let us know!
