This horse-fly was walking apart from the river, where it could have emerged, but also one wing was not good to fly. Locality: Iberian peninsula: Catalonia: Girona province: Beuda: Riera de Rajolins: 31T DG77: 350 masl Date: 22/06/2014 Habitat: Small stream riverside, with rocks, Salix spp. and stone-oak forest Sex: Female Size: 20.5 mm It looks like T. spodopteroides but frontal index is 1: 3.3, when following Fauna Iberica keys (Portillo-Rubio, 2002), it should be 1:4 (In fact it is 3.8) Image shows hind leg, with red hairs on underside tarsi Edited by rafael_carbonell on 14-03-2016 23:13 |

Yes, that is spodopteroides, nice work. The point is, that the frontal stripe is much narrower in all other species ! Theo |
