Tephritis sp.? --> Oxyna flavipennis
Juergen Peters
Hello!

Is this fly on Leucanthemum yesterday (Ostwestfalen/Germany) a Tephritis? Can't find a good match in the gallery. Thanks in advance!

Grrk... X-). I compared it with the Oxynas in the gallery and found it must be some other fly - too gray for O. flavipennis, too yellow for O. parietina... Thanks, Kahis!
Best regards,
Jürgen

I'ld say Oxyna flavipennis, the colour of the body is in all species yellowish gray or grayish yellow, depending on the light. And given the fact that this specimen is flashed, the colour is more grey-white.

Thanks! And yes: the same animal can look very differently when photographed with different camera settings - even when both photos are flashed like with this 5 mm fly from yesterday at the garden lantern. BTW: Is this a Lauxaniid?

Yes, sorry. Originally I only wanted to demonstrate how one indivudual could look very different - then I noticed that this one was still unidentified... Frown

@Andrej: Thanks for identifying it as a Suillia species!
Best regards,
Jürgen
