I am not familiar with the North American fauna, but I can tell at least that it is a species of the Calobata genera complex. In Europe, Compsobata has been synonymised with Neria and the distinguishing character with the other genera is in the wing venation. This picture does not show that detail clearly enough.

Here is a closer view of head and wings, if that helps.

It is not quite just it, even though you amaze me again with the pictures you have. The character is on the anterior margin of the wing and how tow veins terminate in the costa. Unfortunately, the wing is turned slightly forward so the you just cannot see it. It appears as if the willterminate close to the wing margin and then it would be Neria (= Compsobata). According to the Manual of Neartcic Diptera, the subgenus Compsobata (Compsobata) has two reddish species with pruinose thorax, mostly northward and quite widespread. So that would fit quite nicely.
