Syrphidae - no idea

This syrphidae is about 1 cm in length and I have no idea where to classify it. Location: Germany, Rhineland-Palatinum, 53572 Unkel, river Rhine valley, dry and warm habitat (grapeyards), at night on light, 20. 03. 2014. Thanks in advance, Michael |

Hello Michael, The haired eyes give it away as Syrphus torvus. Certainly the spring specimens can be quite dark, like this one. Greetings, Ectemnius |
