Could anyone throw any light on this fly I saw today on nettles on the edge of woodland. Around 10mm in length, I would guess. Any other information needed, please ask! I tried to take other angles, but it flew off! Many thanks Jez Jez Lee www.uknature.co.uk |

This is a Tephritis species. John Smits probably knows more. cheers - martin |

Looks like Tephritis neesii, which has larvae in Oxeye Daisy and related species (Leucanthemum), fairly common in UK. Martin Martin Harvey |
