Hello, A disturbing female Beris for me: it has some features of each of the possible species (if I'm not mistaken of course) clavipes and vallata. For vallata it has somewhat transparent wings, but the left one is damaged and they are not overlapping so I'm not sure if this criteria is usable here. For clavipes it has a good size (my key gives 7mm max for clavipes as for my specimen, in opposite to 6mm max for vallata), and IMO it shows very visible dark bands near the apex of the tergites, while the tergites borders remain distinctly separate. And for the hind tibia, I find it ambiguous at best and I don't have any better view, sorry… My very candid opinion would be in favor of clavipes due mainly to the abdominal dark bands, but what is your take ? Thank you very much for your help ! June 9th, 2014, Vevey, Switzerland, in a small humid wood. Body size: 7 mm (measured) Edited by Caillou on 24-02-2015 19:48 Pierre Bornand |

Best lateral view I've got, and a head close-up for the fun:

Great, thanks a lot Paul ! (I will submit the pictures for your gallery, but you are quite welcome not to use them as the specimen may not be very representative with its damaged wing) Pierre Bornand |
