Hello, excuse me for my bad English and the bad photos. I found this Diptera in Germany, North Rhine-Westphalia, Essen, hatched from a larvae of Vanessa atalanta - 12th July 2015. What is the species of this Diptera? Can anybody help me? Maik |

Hi, Did these imagos emerge from the caterpillar??? Or weren't there yellow or white cocoons weaved together beside the caterpillar? They look like Microgastrinae (Braconidae) to me, but I can't say more. Edited by HDumas on 13-08-2015 16:33 Greetings from Provence |

This is probably Cotesia vanessae (Microgastrinae). Gregarious parasitoid of many Vanessa/Aglais species in Europe.
