Hi, me and my c-oworker found this a few days ago in the botanical garden in Uppsala (Sweden) and can't figure out what it is. It sort of look like a white Episyrphus to me. Does somebody know what it is? Kind Regards Malin Edited by Math on 09-05-2016 16:39 |

This is a Melanostoma male, infested with the fly-killer fungus Entomophthora muscae, and probably already dead and no longer enjoying the buckwheat flowers. Compare https://en.wikipe...ora_muscae and many other websites. Regards, Sundew Edited by Sundew on 07-09-2015 13:46 |

Thank you for the quick answer! That is a bit sad but also a bit interesting. Cheers, Malin |
