Female Syrphidae. I have got no other clues.
The stain on the thorax is probably due to sun light reflection.
Location: Plitvicki Ljeskovac, inland Croatia. Alt. approx.. 650m

It is a Cheilosia - a difficult genus. I suppose it could belong to the C. canicularis complex, compare http://www.eds.or...o%2009.pdf.

OK, I understand that Cheilosia determination on the species level is a highly advanced specialism.
However, I am already very pleased with your determination of the genus.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
