On the date 20. 06. 2015, near Faliraki again, this time a male (I think). Some characters look different compared to the other sp., for example lack of orange color on abdomen, predominantly white chaetae on the thorax (dark orange and black on the previous sp) and the presence of long whitish hairs on coxae (shorter dark ones on the other). Also, pleurae seem to be much more extensively tomentose on this fly. Can this sp. recognised using the picture? (I have several more pics, but nearly from the same angle.) Yes, it is hopeless : ). But this one keys out to S. eucerus in Engel. Please note the very long third antennal segment. With a BIG CF because the description in Engel does not fit entirely. . This one is the male... the other one is a female......it also keys out into the direction of eucerus but the third antennal segment is short and that doesn't fit.......The visibility of tomentose areas are very dependant on lightfall...
