Hi, I am reviewing dipteran larvae I found last spring on wheat stems near Barcelona (Spain). I used alcohol (70%) to preserve them. Mostly, I've seen Syrphidae but I've found some of these and would like to know which family it is, as they don't look like Syrphidae to me (but I have very little experience, so...) Thanks! Ness |

certainly no Syrphid larvae for the posterior spiracles (top right) are not fused. I'm not sure what this is, something like Agromyzidae perhaps? What's the size? |

I have a question, now. I have found a number of similar larvae in my samples. Is this kind of crown around the spiracles a characteristic of Chamaemyiidae? |
