Big colorful Asilidae
Isidro
I saw various specimens of this spectacular, very big (4-5 cm) and colorful asilid at Sabi?anigo, Aragon, Spain (Pre-Pyrenees), in open shrubland (dominated by Genista scorpius and Thymus vulgaris).

I saw some similar in the forum as Eccoptopus longitarsis. Could be this one the same species?

Well, seeing another time the images of Eccoctopus, I think that it is not Eccoctopus, anyway.

But, what is it???

Thanks Paul!!!

In the same zone are some Dasypogon entirely black, including the wings. These are colour variations or sexual difference in the colour or difference on the colour for the species?

Isidro
This Dasypogon was in the same zone the same day. It's the same???

As far as I know it is sexual dimorphism.
