2015-07-14, N. Germany, Dioctria hyalipennis? <=
Lennart Bendixen
Hi,

so here's another specimen from the same habitat. This should be a female D. hyalipennis, right? I'm a bit uncertain because I had always focused on the hind legs' colour....but this seems to be variable here.

Thanks in advance!
Lennart

Yes, this is D. hyalipennis. In my experience the colour of the legs is very variable. I collected specimens with all legs dark and many with thinner or broader black stripes on front and middle femora. Sometimes together on the same shrub.

Thanks for confirmation and additional information - I'll keep this in mind. In fact, I didn't expected it to be that variable...

The decisive character, in this case, is not colouration but the arrangement of the pale tomentum on the pleura - see key http://www.robber...ctria.html.

Thank you, I even recognised this without the key, but it's good to have one Smile
