It certainly looks like a tachinid, but it isn't one I have seen in the UK Sad Did you take a specimen?

Sorry, for me nature is too pretty to be destroy. I never kill a fly or any else. Anyway, if I killed one, I don't know what I will do with it Smile
But exceptionnelly if you want and if I find it again, I can try to catch one and send to you. I will ask somebody how to do it
I hope you can understand what I say because my engllish is so bad like my knowledge about diptere Sad

Hi Edith,

If you don't feel confident with specimens then don't worry - though I would be happy to give advice if you do want to try. Tachinids are not a 'difficult' group but to identify them often we must see quite small features, such as individual hairs & bristles on the face, body, legs & wings. Of course, some genera are bigger, more colourful and generally easier to identify but most are not Wink

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
