It looks like latistriatus but the light is quite tricky, so I can't be really sure. Theo |

Thanks a lot Theo. Here's another dorsal view with different lighting. As this is something of a rarity here, it might be an idea to get someone to look at the specimen. Could you suggest someone who might be willing to do so? |

My reservations proved justified: I just got the specimen and it is a female A. rusticus. Apparently even more special in the UK ! Theo Zeegers |

I had a look at the map and just discovered that the locality is quite close to Dungeness. Most other records are from Susses as well. This opens the possibility that most, if not all, rusticus in the UK are vagrant from the continent. There is a specimen of Therioplectes gigas from the other side, near Boulogne, that underlines this possibility. Of course, it's no proof. Theo |
