Last year I observed only 4 Tabanids whole year. Last year was wet, as a result this year the number of Tabanids in the area has skyrocketed, and I must have observed 100+ so far. This seems to be a rarish species, from a bog. Edited by Xespok on 20-07-2007 12:14 Gabor Keresztes Japan Wildlife Gallery Carpathian Basin Wildlife Gallery |

An important view of the female. An Atylotus sp? Hopefully not rusticus. Gabor Keresztes Japan Wildlife Gallery Carpathian Basin Wildlife Gallery |

Very nice pics of Atylotus. It's either A. rusticus or A. latistriatus, difficult to tell from the pics. My guess it's the last. Any chance you saw these at a slightly brackish (salty) situation ? Theo |
