Dysmachus fuscipennis?

Using the key on the Geller website http://www.robber...start.html, I arrived at Dysmachus fuscipennis.
Would that be correct?
Location: vicinity of Bucium, Romania
Alt.: approx. 1000m

Looks like it, a female. But beware because Geller keys only cover the species of Deutchland (as far as I know) and Robberfly Fauna for Rumania is rather different to that of Deutchland. Using keys out of range is pretty dangerous Wink

Yes, of course you’re right about the risk of using a key not created specifically for the Romanian situation. In particular for asilidae Smile. But that is why I posted.
I will keep your warning in mind and set its status to likely but uncertain.

But the key by Engel is palearctic..... and it will key out to D. fuscipennis because of the strong bristles under F1. The species also seems to be common in SE Europe. But the proportions of this fly seem a bit off so i would also add an cf
