Looks like it, a female. But beware because Geller keys only cover the species of Deutchland (as far as I know) and Robberfly Fauna for Rumania is rather different to that of Deutchland. Using keys out of range is pretty dangerous

Yes, of course you’re right about the risk of using a key not created specifically for the Romanian situation. In particular for asilidae  . But that is why I posted. I will keep your warning in mind and set its status to likely but uncertain. Thanks for your reply. Regards, David |

But the key by Engel is palearctic..... and it will key out to D. fuscipennis because of the strong bristles under F1. The species also seems to be common in SE Europe. But the proportions of this fly seem a bit off so i would also add an cf
