Hi,
Is it possible to tell the species of the fly by its mine on this Alnus glutinosa?

Might be Agromyza alnivora, but there are also other animals (butterflies, beetles...) whose larvae are leaf miners - see the key for mine shapes in Dutch and English http://www.bladmi.../alnus.htm.

It looks as if the frass is in a single, median line in the mine. That would make it unlikely to be a dipteran mine...

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
