Puparia ID?
Paleoinsect
Is anyone good with puparia or is there a good reference for them? I deal mostly with insect remains from archaeological sites and rarely do I get fly parts .... the occasional wing maybe but that's about all. Mostly, I get puparia / pupa casings, such as the one in this pic.

This was taken by me of some empty puparia from a ~400 year old archaeological site in northwestern Oregon. It is a forested area near the Columbia River, and I'm specifically looking at insect remains from the cellars of a Chinookan plankhouse. Although many of the units I've have checked through so far did not have any of these, one unit had 71 of these puparia. I do not have a scale bar on this image, but it is almost exactly 1 mm in length. Any idea what they could be from? I was thinking maybe a phorid but I don't know if their puparia are that small

If you have any ideas, please let me know!

Martin
