Nikita I'm not convinced either. Calypters yellowy-brown and only a little dusting on the thorax, none on the abdomen - why not P azurea? Susan |

I'm quiet, because I can't tell. The squama seems dark, the wings are definitely folded as in Protocalliphora and I can't see the bristles right. I don't see a red beard, but then again, Calliphora loewi could be an alternative. So, for me, picture is not good enough, sorry. Theo |

Oke. last comment from my side: The third antennal segment is short compared with the second, so it can't be Calliphora. The calyptrae indeed is yellow. So I'm with Susan: Protocalliphora, dark picture Theo |

Yep, jizz is all Protocalliphora. Difficult to say exactly why other than the way the wings are held, but look at how low the head is positioned on the thorax - Calliphora heads are placed much higher. Also the abdomen is more evenly coloured.
