Beautiful black Tachinid
pierred
Hello,

A beautiful black Tachinid for Theo and Chris...

With this broad frons, could it be a Gonia?

Yes, it looks like a Gonia to me with that broad, convex, yellow frons but that's as far as I can go - so it's over to Theo for a species Smile

Moreover, the ocellar bristles are reclinate, so it's definitely GOnia or ally.
However, it might be such an ally. Is this picture taken by any chance in the mountains ?
(we can't see the face, that's why I have to start guessing)

Theo,

Thanks. Sorry, I forgot to state the date and place.
Savoy (France), 2007/7/25, 1750m above sea.

Aha. That explains a lot.
You made it difficult

IN that case, it's Onychogonia, 3 very similar species (and little experience from my side)

Theo,

Thanks. An allied genus.
