Hi all, In Ticino Switzerland we found on a kitchen floor of an elderly woman little larvae. They have no head, six pairs of prolegs and a little stem at the end. The larvae are about 15 mm long. They move with undulating body movements. We guess it is a diptera larvae but are very unsure. Does anybody know more? Thanks! Michael PS: The photo shows the ventral view |

I suggest Volucella inanis (Syrphidae) - from a wasp's nest in the building

Hi Toni, That's it, definitely! Many thanks, we were completely on the wrong track (soldier flies, bot flies, Fannia, etc.). I guess, the old lady has to solve a wasp problem. Best regards, Michael Greeff, ETH Zürich |
