Is this a Gall Midge, Cecidomyiidae?

Location: Found indoors, West Virginia USA.

Date: 5 May 2007.

Length: 3.25 mm from front of eyes to rear of abdomen.

It certainly is - difficult to say more - there are too many similar species.

Thanks, Tony! I had filed this under Chironomidae for some reason. When I looked at it this morning I thought, "That can't be right!" I'm glad to get it to its rightful place.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
