Chrysops faces

Summer 1997, New Brunswick, Canada.

Some of the Deer Fly faces that have been looking back at me this summer:
1: ater; 2:mitis; 3:carbonarius; 4:cuclux;
5:excitans; 6:excitans; 7:calvus.

I've always wanted to make a 'portrait-gallery' of horseflies. This might be a good start.

I still have another 19 species of local Chrysops faces; plus most of the horseflies - it was a good tabanid yearGrin.

I think a good way of compiling and spreading info (besides writing an article on diptera.info) is to publish in PDF form. If you haven't got Indesign, Pagemaker or Quark there are other cheaper products like Serif PagePlus (have found that free on magazine CDs) or freeware Scribus ... but it takes a time to learn the DTP tool. Too much time some might think.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
