* locality - P?voa D?o - Viseu - PORTUGAL
* date - 2007.09.04
* size - 7 mm (medium fly)
* habitat - woodland
* substrate - on Foeniculum vulgare

This is Miltogramma taeniata.

Identification toke some time because it resembles Miltogramma iberica very much.

The choice between taeniata or taeniatum (like punctata or punctatum) depends on the gender of Miltogramma.
Pape (1996) assumes Miltogramma to be feminine as the author of the genus did. I agree.
Feel free to chose masculine, but then you should call the subfamily Miltogrammatinae in stead off Miltogramminae as does Verves (in litt.).

To be coherent as I used always the Miltogramminae, I will keep the gender. In this way, it will be, Sarcophagidae - Miltogramminae - Miltogramma taeniata. Smile Thank you, Liekele!
