I'm photographing like every fly in my garden now (getting pretty enthousiastic now!)Grin

Not every picture is as clear as I want it to be though.

Thank you both. Coenosia seems very common in my little garden. I think several different species... is this possible?

There may be quite a few species of Coenosia in your garden, but several anthomyiid females can look very similar also. The photo does look like tigrina. It is the "bull-terrier" of this genus - most of the other species are more delicate.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
