I thought it might be Gymnosoma rotundatum but I have changed my mind - a band of dusting going the length of the thorax on the males might suggest something like dolycoridis. Anyway, they are very very difficult and I'd prefer to see a specimen because the genitalia are quite distinctive Smile Theo might be able to say more.

I agree. It's not rotundatum, it might very well be dolycoridis but given the not completely sharp pic, I can't exclude clavatum.

Hi Edith

Since is another specimen, since it's female, and the first is male.
Please try to post pics of the same specimen only in order to prevent confusion.

Hi Edith

There's no real problem - except Gymnosoma are very difficult and your photos don't show us anything that says what is it 100%. So, at the end we really can't say more than just "Gymnosoma" Smile

Well, I know I'm annoying but I'm trying to be very precise, since identifying Tachinidae is difficult enough as it is:

It's good to know these two were in copula, however, it does not necessarily follow that they are the same species !
So, my request remains, please be sure that repeated pictures are really of the same individual or, alternatively, make a remark that they are not.
Otherwise I loose track.

Thanks

Theo
