Saw a lot of beautiful flies in Surinam. Am I right in assuming that this is a wasp mimic syrphidae (female)? They were quite abundant in the north. In Botopasi (Boven Suriname) I photographed a somewhat similar looking species which I will show in a separate thread. The wing veins and the spines on the abdomen suggest Tachinidae
