Yesterday, I saw a relatively calm chrysidid and stopped to watch it. What I observed was magnificent. From the sky appeared some crabronid wasps with bees. Then, the crabronids took the bees into their nests. When they left, the chrysidid forced his way into the nest and I presume that it laid its eggs. I have never seen this behavior before and I liked it very much  .I think the crabronid belongs to the species Philanthus triangulum, am I right? Sorry for posting two species in this thread, but I wanted to show you the chrysidid. location: Barcelos, Portugal date: 2007/09/18

Philanthus triangulum is correct! The Chysidid I'm not sure of. It is Chrysidae for sure but I don't think it's a Chrysis sp. Best regards, Iolaire |

The Chrysididae is most probable Hedychrum rutilans, the specific parasite of Philanthus triangulum. Regards, Christian |
