Help with fly id in Boulder Colorado
Doug Goodin
Hello everyone,

I am new to the site and a new to diptera id; So, please excuse what is most likely a common diptera but it was quite unusual to me.

I photographed the flys in the foothills of Boulder Colorado at an elevation of 7000ft.
The date was September 16th 2007.
The habitat is mixed conifer and decidous. They were very interested in a batch of aster that was near a stream.

Thank you for your time and help,
Doug Goodin

This was of a different fly but same time same place. Looked to be just a color variation.

Maybe something like Adejeania vexatrix for the second one? ... it must be two different Tachinid species.

It's a Tachinid; possibly Adejeania vexatrix or something very similar.
That is the lower fly, top fly looks like a different species, could try Paradejeania
