Blackish Rhagionid in the French Alps
pierred
Hello,

www.galerie-insecte.org/galerie/image/dos216/big/5ds34192.jpg
Pierre Duhem : France : Bessans : 73480 : 04/08/2018
Altitude : 1745 m - Taille : 10-15 mm
Réf. : 216750

I first thought this was Chrysopilus cristatus, but was not satisfied. After that, Eugène proposed Rhagio cingulatus.
What do you think?
Thanks in advance.

Very interesting, from this altitude. The eyes are dichoptic, is that right ?
If you have any more pictures, please post.
And did you collect this, by any chance ?

I don't have other pictures and I didn't collect it.

The eyes are holoptic, after all.

Males cingulatus are never so dark ( but then again, in Rhagio, you never know !), moreover, their thorax is ditinctly vittate..
i
I’d say this the Rhagio lineola monticola, the very dark Alpine form .

Hello,

A year later...
Do you think that this specimen is dark enough to be Rhagio lineola monticola, too ? Seen on the same spot as last year.
