Hi there! Another miner. This one I found on one of my appletrees (Malus sp). I've been searching on the internet (bladmineerders.nl, a.o.) but I'm still in the dark here. Anyone any suggestions? Cheers! 2 photo's : 2 (different) species?? Best regards, Iolaire |

as Tony said: it is very improbable to find agromyzids galleries on leaves of fruit trees. Maybe some kind of Lepidoptera? Or another order... |

The form of this mine fits Apple Leaf Miner, Lyonetia clerkella (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae), quite well.

Hello! Tony Irwin wrote: The form of this mine fits Apple Leaf Miner, Lyonetia clerkella (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae), quite well. Before pupation the caterpillars of this species spin very peculiar webs. These from two days ago on a cherry tree were identified as Lyonetia clerkella, too: http://insektenfo...ntid=25014 http://insektenfo...ntid=25015 http://insektenfo...ntid=25016 Best regards, Jürgen -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Juergen Peters Borgholzhausen, Germany WWW: http://insektenfo... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= |

I found several examples of Diptera miners on (fruit)tree-leafs on the incredible site www.bladmineerders.nl. Phytomyza heringiana is one of them, found on (a.o.) Malus sp. The form of this mine fits Apple Leaf Miner, Lyonetia clerkella (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae), quite well. I agree, but when I look at the pictures J?rgen refers to, I'm not sure. I haven't seen such peculiar weblike structures on the leafs of my appletree! I'm still a bit in the dark here.... Help me?! Best regards, Iolaire |
