Hello,

I caught this fly on May 13, 2018 foraging dandelions (Taraxacum sp.) in on the coast of Poullan-sur-Mer in South West of French Brittany (lat : 48.09652125222015, long : -4.4401704448848704) on sunny day.

Nice work!
It could be indeed H. macrura, but I like to rule out H. caledonica....or not.
I contacted Ackland about it, so I have to wait for his response....

Coming back to your H. macrura.
Also Michael thinks this could be indeed H. macrura (Schnabl in Schnabl & Dziedzicki, 1911) , but it would be nice if you could send me one (or two) specimen, so I can look at the shape of the gonites and phallus ….and other characters to be 100% sure!

Nice find!!

Hello everybodies,

After several weeks of regular exchanges between Johanna and me and the shipment of some specimen in the Netherlands Heterostylodes macrura (Schnabl in Schnabl & Dziedzicki, 1911) is confirmed.
This is the beautiful pictures of male genitalia made by Johanna.
