Hi, this hoverfly I saw on May 28th in the northern hills of Vienna, Austria. Its size was about 11mm. Could it be Mallota cimbiciformis? Best regards, Konrad (Sorry, have to read up how to add the attachment, because the way I did it it does not show) P.S. The picture that should have gone along with this querie, I posted further below. Here's another picture of the same fly, maybe that helps. Edited by konradZ on 21-01-2019 12:00 |

I think a bit more description is needed of how it looks like. Or did you forget to add a photo?

I hope it works this time and you can see the photo (did everything that one should: "No spaces in the file name, not dots other than the one in front of the extension and do not preview the image before posting" and it has the right size). Best regards, Konrad |

Bringing this post up again, would like to hear experts comments as well. Cheers, Lorin Cheers, Lorin Font Color All requests are from the urban area of Vienna, if not otherwise stated. My Diptera observations (and other living forms) can be found here, and corrections or comments over there would also be appreciated. |

Thank you, Gerard, for the identification (and thanks, Carnifex, for pushing for it). Best regards, Konrad |
