Red-eyed Fly from Brazil's Amazon. What family?

This little fly measured 2.8 mm. It was in tropical forest along Rio Negro in Brazil's Amazon state. Date of the photo is 25 May 2012.

What family, please?

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
