This nice fly was on the Bolivian shore of Lake Titicaca, at Yumani. The date was 6 December 2012. ID help will be appreciated! Edited by Stephen on 17-02-2019 15:31 --Stephen Stephen Cresswell www.americaninsects.net |

I think Sarcophagidae. Some of the tropical species are more colorful. |

Thanks, John. Oh, and I realized I have a measurement for this fly, 10 mm from the front of the head to the wing apex.

Thomas Pape identifies the genus as Microcerella, and states it is a genus that is often golden pollinose, but he has never one as extensively golden as this one. This is a female. & Thanks again, John. Edited by Stephen on 17-02-2019 15:31 --Stephen Stephen Cresswell www.americaninsects.net |
