Hi everyone. I have this fly I pictured in my backyard. It was suggested in another forum that it belongs to the Eristalinae subfamily,
Could anyone help with this ID?

Yes, Eristalinae. It looks like the female of Palpada scutellaris, or a closely related species....

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
