This female (4.5 mm) was collected at the outside of my house in a small town in the Netherlands (not far from Germany) near a forest on the 24th of November. I believe it is Lispocephala alma or falcatula. Possibly genital dissection is needed to decide which one. On the other hand D'Assis Fonseca (Handbook for the Identification of British Insects. Diptera Cyclorrhapha Calyptrata Secion (b) Muscidae. Royal Entomological Society of London Vol. X. Part 4 (b) 1968; downloadable at royensoc.co.uk) presents a key on p. 68 - 69 by which it maybe identified (although not by me). D'Assis Fonseca in figure 12 (p. 66) also illustrates some differences in the placement of bristles on the fourth abdominal tergite. I have attached the figure below. In addition the author gives as flight time April-May + July-September for alma and February till May for falcatula. Maybe one of you can help me out. Nobody knows are differences offered by Fonseca (or Gregor et al. 2002) reliable or not. Lispocephala requires revision.
