Conophorus sp. in Portugal
draposo79
Hello,

I'm new to this forum, thank you for having me.

I was told that this fly was not easy to id to species level and that I should try to ask here...

This Conophorus was observed in Corroios, Seixal, Portugal the 22 March 2020. Is it possible to id?

Welcome to the forum! But I am afraid your first post will not lead to a species name. On the one hand, the picture is much too small, details cannot be seen. More important: species identification is almost impossible. Have a look at thread https://diptera.i...ad_id=5732 (it pays to use the "forum search" function!), more than the comment by our expert David Gibbs cannot be said - sorry!
Regards, Sundew

Hello Mr. Sundew,

Thank you for your reply. I was already aware that this should be almost impossible to ID. I've read Mr. Gibbs coment, so this will remain as Conophorus sp.

Next time I'll remember to use the search funtion, thank you for the reminder. Regarding the picture, I was unable to upload a bigger one and the upload by link seemed not to be working, or possibly I was doing something wrong (yes, I used the FAQ here). Smile

Once again, Thank you very much.
Daniel
