Hello,

Ulidiidae, maybe Otites formosa. The specialists may tell it definitely.

Lieber Gerold,

In this corner of Germany, as well as in France, Italy, and most of Switzerland, the common species of this group is Otites porcus (Latreille, 1804), which has been known under the name Otites jucunda (R.-D.) or sometimes misidentified as "O. formosa". I know at least some specimens from Karlsruhe. Unfortunately, the femora (partly orange in porcus) are not visible on the photo. but the long medial black vittae on mesonotum and partly yellow occiput may support my hypothesis.

Concerning "O. formosa": it occurs in Bavaria and eastward -- to Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine. Its valid name is now Otites ruficeps (Fabricius 1805).

The basin of Danube has richer fauna of Otites from this group, some 3-4 almost cryptic species.

The name "O. formosa Pancer 1796" is a primary junior homonym and is unavailable.
