November flies
Juergen Peters
Hello!

Yesterday it was very cloudy and windy here in Ostwestfalen/Germany and only 10 ?C warm, but there were still many flies sitting on tree trunks or leaves on the wood's edge. I would appreciate very much if someone could confirm or reject my identifications. Because of the poor light conditions (and of course my simple camera) most pics are not so good, sorry.

Sylvicola punctatus?:

I also saw (but could not photograph :-() a large syrphid (larger but more slender than E. tenax) with narrow whitish-yellow bended stripes on the abdomen. It resembled a little bit Scaeva pyrastri but was definitely not that genus. It was larger and the stripes were narrower and reached the edge of the abdomen or even its underside. The only similar species I could find was Sericomya lappona, about which I did not find very many informations. Would that species be possible? Can it still be found in November? Thanks in advance for any hints!
Best regards,
Jürgen

First one. May be Thricops diaphanus, Muscidae?

The second is Anisopodidae but impossible to say what species. Possibly the wings are strongly maculated but even then I cannot make out enough to put a specie name on it.
