Tachinidae ID? /South Korea --> Macquartia cf. pubiceps male
wonwoong
Is this some kind of Tachinid? It was captured while sitting on a dead tree on June 05, 2020. Body length is 7mm.
If some other body feature is required, I will add more pictures of the specimen. Any form of help is appreciated! Smile

Dear Wonwoong

Your photos are excellent and show a male Tachinid most likely belonging to the tribe Blondeliini. The tribe is very rich in the Eastern Palaearctic region, which is slightly outside my comfort zone. With the specimen on my desk, I could definitely give an identification at least to genus and probably to species.

Dear Theo

I could send the specimen to you, but unfortunately I cannot access to the post office because of COVID-19. I'll contact you if the situation allows me to send the specimen....

+) Thanks for the ID! Smile

That is great and the fly is going nowhere, I suppose.
When you are ready, send me a personal message and I will talk you through the packing procedure.

Macquartia cf. pubiceps male
ID determined by Theo Zeegers. Specimen was inspected.

Previously recorded for east Palaearctic by Ziegler (Ussuri).
Apparently the east Palaearctic has its own, isolated population, like Phasia hemiptera.
