Platystomatidae, Elassogaster or Plagiostenopterina ?
Kaprikorn
This is a really weird-looking fly. I'm stuck with this one and I do not have any idea.
Can anyone help ID this fly?

Bangkok, Thailand.

Well, it is a Platystomatid and we're talking either Elassogaster or Plagiostenopterina, but I cannot see the necessary characters clearly enough.

Thank you for your help.
Both genus that you mentioned are really close.

They are, but you can distinguish them: Elassogaster has the ventral setae of the fore femur raised on small warts or tubercles and a asetose face; while Plagiostenopterina has setae on the fore femur inserted in to alveoli and short scattered setae on the face. In addition, but I don't think in all species, cell br is coloured dark brown and barring maybe one species that I've seen, this is not the case in Elassogaster.
