In Northern Africa, Tunisia is the best country for easy travelling. Safety is very good, water is ok (you can buy it anywhere), and fauna is very rich, beginning from the mediteranean coast up to the true Sahara desert (around Tozeur you will find true desert faunistic elements). All roads paved, car rental developped, all people speak frensh, many cheap hotels... Southern Morocco is also easy, save and good, but distances are larger than in Tunisia (but closer from Portugal). Safety problems are only in the north (Rif mountains), as I have been told. Regards, Christian |
