Tanypezidae, Neotanypeza sp.
Miudo
Hello all,

Seeking confirmation that this is indeed Neotanypeza sp. and maybe some extra information about it. Anyone knows a good source with keys to differentiate the 23 species from this genus?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Miudo,

Its from the Neotropics and a Tanypezidae thus its a Neotanypeza. Searching fro 'pdf' and 'Neotanypeza' gives the following hit: http://citeseerx....p;type=pdf

Kind regards,
Ectemnius

Thank you Ectemnius, that's a very good material Smile

Unfortunately I don't think I can reach a conclusive ID of the species based on my poor quality pics, oh well...

A useful paper is
Lonsdale, O. (2013). Review of the Families A Tanypezidae and Strongylophthalmyiidae with a Revision of Neotanypeza Hendel (Diptera: SchosophorA. Smithsonian Contributions to Zoology, (641). Retrieved from http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/download?doi=10.1.1.800.4846&rep=rep1&type=pdf
There's also some stuff in the book
Marshall, S. A. (2012). Flies: The Natural History and Diversity of Diptera. Buffalo, NY: Firefly Books.
